Fuji X100 Review Updated, My Fuji X100 Goes Dead
I’ve updated my Fuji X100 review with pages discussing auto ISO with flash, the fundamental design flaw for fill-flash and a how-I-shoot page.
The X100 I bought (following return of my review samples) has died with less than 50 frames shot. The rear LCD lights up for Live View, but absolutely nothing else functions— buttons do not respond, no EVF, no menus, won’t take a picture, etc. It won’t even turn off! Pulling the battery repeatedly fixes nothing.
So the X100 is going back for a refund. I’ll replace it as soon as I can, because I do like it a lot, though it’s two parts “like”, and one part frustration. See my Open Letter to Fuji.
UPDATE! On the computer, I trashed all the files on the SDHC card, and the X100 decided to “wake up” and respond. This suggests some nasty bug in the way the X100 deals with files on the card.
