Really Right Stuff L-Bracket for Fuji Finepix X100
See my review of the Fuji Finepix X100 in DAP.
Really Right Stuff has begun shipping a superbly designed L-bracket for the Fuji X100. At 72 grams (as actually weighed), the machined and anodized aluminum L-bracket is about as lightweight as one can hope for.
- The L-bracket is fast and efficient for tripod mounting the X10 horizontally in landscape mode, or vertically. Nothing else will do.
- Consider the optional BX100-G grip, which solves the ergonomic problem of holding the X100 securely.
- One need not go for the full L-bracket; a base plate is also available that can optionally (also) take the L portion and/or the grip.
The base plate leaves the battery and SD card slots exposed, and doesn’t have any squirmy cork or rubber or similar silliness; it’s a form-fitting precisely engineered add-on that fits like a glove.
Protects the camera too
But it’s more useful than for just tripod use— I have found over that years that using an L-bracket keeps all my cameras looking brand-new, since the L-bracket takes all the scratches and bumps to the bottom and left of the camera, the L-bracket gets the abuse when balancing the camera on a rock or similar. So in a sense it’s a protective shield, even if you never mount it on a tripod.
