Fuji X100 as a Great Cycling Camera
The Fuji X100 (about $1200) remains my favorite camera for cycling because of its high quality APS-C sensor with Provia-style color, and the simple ergonomic fact that it fits easily into a cycling jersey pocket. Sometimes the right tool is the one that fits in one’s pocket!
Cycling at mid-day, one only has so much to choose from, and in a hurry. But the X100 does a good job. Some shots from a long ride to the ocean today— Old La Honda, Skyline, West Alpine, Stage Road, Tunitas Creek, Kings Mtn Road.
The Bike Hut is a nice stop— self-serve honor system for water, snacks, etc at an organic farm which sells fresh eggs also. I don’t recommend carrying the eggs home in a jersey pocket however!
Technical note: the reds are dulled here by using sRGB color space.
What appear to be jagged edges here are actually an accurate portrayal— the indented road surface of the yellow lines undulates in a pattern when seen from this angle. There is road grit in the dips which further accentuates the effect.
