Nikon D800E
See my recommended reading on the D800.
The D800E seems to be popping up, and so I think my chances of having one very soon are very good.
Already my review of the Nikon D800 covers many areas, but I have much more planned for the D800E and D800.
My initial focus on the D800E will be to thoroughly explore its sharpness performance, especially compared to the Nikon D800 (and Nikon D3x and D3s), but also the Canon 5D Mark III.
How much detail will it provide on a scene like this will a stellar lens like the Zeiss 100mm f/2 Makro-Planar? It is an exciting prospect, since the D800 does very well on this image.
Which Zeiss lenses for D800E / D800 (or Canon 5D Mark III)
I recommend without reservation the 15/2.8 Distagon, the 21/2.8 Distagon, the 50/2 Makro-Planar and the 100/2 Makro-Planar. The other Zeiss ZF.2 lenses I will test shortly after the D800E arrives.

I’m specially looking forward to comparison D800 Vs D800E including discussion how muck of perceived resolution difference can be altered with different sharpening techniques. The examples found on the net so far are crap to a great extent.
DIGLLOYD: Appropriate sharpening for the type of sensor is what I intend to show, as well as a range of sharpening results.
See Examples — Sharpening Portraits in my Nikon D800 review for examples of different levels of sharpening.
A sensor that has an anti-aliasing filter needs less sharpening than a sensor that has one. I expect that with appropriate sharpening, results from the D800 will converge towards the D800E, being close in some cases, and less close in others.
