Canon EOS 1D X vs 5D Mark III: ISO/Noise from ISO 50 - ISO 204800 with 5600°K and Tungsten Halogen Lighting
Update: I discovered a Photoshop CS6 scripting bug which rendered the ISO 400/800/1600 tungsten frames incorrectly for the 5DM3. Please reexamine those ISO crops if you viewed prior to 21:52 PDT. Thanks to reader Joseph F for pointing this out.
My review of the Canon 1D X (about $6799) now includes a noise comparison between the Canon 1DX and the Canon 5D Mark III from ISO 50 through ISO 204800.
A full series with a very large crop at ~50% actual pixels is shown, but also three large upsampled crops matched for ideal noise assessment akin to making a large print, all at the full series from ISO 50 through ISO 204800. This was a big job!
And this is all done with both 5600°K LED lighting using the Lowel Prime 400 LED Light (Daylight) panel, as well as garden variety tungsten halogen lighting.
