Why Don’t DSLRs Have Both Optical and Electronic Viewfinders?
After using the Leica M Typ 240 for a while now, I feel grumpy about my DSLRs (all kinds: why don’t DSLRs offer both an optical viewfinder (as they already do), and an EVF option?
My DSLRs force me to use the rear LCD with a focusing loupe. This is a lot less handy than doing the same thing in an EVF without a loupe.
The EVF is immensely helpful for focusing at 10X (no loupe required, extraneous light blocked, no presbyopia problems). Though I wish it were a higher resolution 2.4 or 4 megapixels, not just 1.4MP.
Note well I want both: not just an optical viewfinder nor only an EVF (e.g. Sony A99). Having both is really handy as the Leica M Typ 240 shows.
See Optical and Electronic Viewfinders: EVF + Optical + LCD = Synergy.
