Leica 28m f/2 Summicron-M ASPH Aperture Series: Sharpness, examples

Leica 28mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH

I’m in the processing of preparing some new content for both the Leica 28mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH and the 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH.

For starters, I’ve greatly improved the mosaic aperture series with the 28/2 with HD and UltraHD images and more and larger crops. That series shows the center and off-center performance really well using the Leica M9.

Part of my interest was in seeing how the M9 now looks to me compared to the M240. It’s hard to avoid the conclusion that the M240 is not any sharper than the M9 for real images (see also the comparisons made mid-2013).

Just started, more examples are coming to these two new examples pages, with examples chosen in particular to show various lens behaviors: sharpness, bokeh, rendering style:
