Pentax K1 Now Here, SuperRes Pixel Shift at Night
See my Pentax K1 wish list at B&H Photo.
My review of the Pentax K1 is in DAP.
The Pentax K1 is in my hands. It arrived after 5PM, so I did some evening and night shooting using pixel shift mode exposures up to 30 seconds (which means 30 X 4 in pixel shift mode).
Some of the results are extremely impressive, but not all is good—there are some irritating make-work behavioral headaches that are hard to believe. And it looks like the lack of an EFC shutter is a problem at 200mm in regular mode (non pixel shift mode), that is, the dreaded shutter shake.
I hadn’t realized that the OS X Finder shows exposure info in the Get Info dialog. It ought to also offer it in list view, which would be handy.
The lack of noise even in the red channel of the blue sky, is very impressive. Except that there is a problem as my full discussion will go into.
