Fujifilm GF 55mm f/1.7: Best All-Around Pleasing Lens So Far for Fujifilm Medium Format?

The about $2299 Fujifilm GF 55mm f/1.7 R WR is equivalent to a 45mm lens in horizontal field of view, and f/1.4 in depth of field terms, as compared to a 35mm full frame camera (landscape orientation).

As a very fast lens, gorgeous subject isolation should be possible. OTOH, such lenses are typically compromised with focus shift and field curvature and are thus rarely a good choice for landscape and similar.
Impressions
I took a look at the sample photos. Overall feel and rendering style looks to be a crowd pleaser.
The file "gf55mmf17-r-wr_sample_thum_04_uiop.jpg" (power lines) looks quite impresive in its control of chromatic errors. OTOH, the wedding photo does not.
Since Fujfilm claims “surgical AF precision”, I was surprised to see photographer or camera incompetence in the wedding photo, unless the goal was to blur the couple and make sharp flowers. Huh? Not exactly persuasive.
