Shadow Noise vs Nikon D800E
One of the things that turns me off with Canon DSLRs is the high level of shadow noise (no clean blacks) as well as very objectionable pattern noise and pattern noise and pattern noise.
Outdoor shooting often involves high dynamic range subjects for which opening up shadows is desirable, so “dirty” blacks and pattern noise are anathema.
For example, my Tioga Lake and Mt Dana shot required a massive adjustment to shadow areas that I am certain would have been a difficult mess with the Canon 5D Mark III, but was just a little grainy from the Nikon D800E.
