Flare

Internal reflection
The bright flare is from a light outside the frame. It’s a serious problem; it was not possible to shade the lens with my hand in order to eliminate the reflection because the light was too close to the edge of the frame.
This flare behavior seems to occur with all the Leica SL lenses on the Panasonic S1R, which leads me to believe that it is not optical per se, but rather an internal reflection interaction between the sensor and the lens—a flawed design with no mitigation.
