Hasselblad X2D 100C

Hasselblad X2D: Focus Reset Upon Power On

Firmware version 1.0.0, lens firmware 1.1.0.

Suppose you set up a shot and need to wait for the light to be just right, the clouds to move into position, the person or animal or whatever to move into position. But the conditions you are waiting for might take 2/3/5/10 minutes or even longer (eg, a night shot you set up late in the day). Sleeping the camera (brief press on the power button) works for a short while, but is no good in general*.

You carefully focus (perhaps manually), and know that all you have to do is turn on the camera and take the shot.

The right conditions arrive, so you power on the camera**. You press the shutter and nail the shot. Or../ did you?

Turns out, the Hasselblad X2D resets lens focus upon power-on to INFINITY, and the image you carefully set up and waited for is now grossly out of focus even at f/12—a total loss. [the 38/2.5 has a substantial rearward focus shift, so INF focus is the worse possible case, but the same issue would apply to any lens]
