MTF for Hasselblad XCD 90mm f/3.2
MTF is shown below at f/3.5 and f/8 for both infinity focus and at 1:5 (0.8 meters).

Wide open at f/3.2, sharpness is outstanding is at very high levels across the field. Performance might bump up at f/4 and f/5.6, but Hasselblad does not provide those apertures. While outstandingly consistent across the field, peak MTF values fall well short of the Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 APO-Planar.
At f/8, diffraction effects are reducing contrast of coarse, medium and fine structures. Aperture f/3.2 is thus superior to f/8 when one ignores its razor-thin depth of field. That’s what one hopes for in a high-grade lens—outstanding wide-open performance that f/8 cannot meaningfully improve upon.
