Ergonomics
This page captures my observations on the usability and ergonomics and more will be added to as I work with the camera.
I like this camera. It feels like a camera, whereas too many cameras today feel like computers with a lens. It is a highly functional camera for shooting. Fun to shoot, easy to shoot, doesn’t piss you off with stupidly designed-in problems.
I was able to work the 645D immediately without having to resort to the user manual, though I did refer to it to fill in a few details and gaps in my knowledge. The menu system is excellent, and much easier to negotiate than other medium format cameras that I’ve used; it’s a DSLR design, and meets appropriate design expectations and it works well.]
In general, the Pentax 645D design makes other medium format designs look brain damaged. It’s refreshing to see that the medium format world is no longer entirely damned with badly conceived designs and very poor LCD screens that would be rejected in a $300 camera.
