Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro

Lens coatings on the EF 100/2.8L IS perform fairly well in infrared. However, in the f/11 -f/16 range (and wider apertures under some conditions), there is a significant hot spot effect which can be troublesome. When used for false color, the blue channel contributes an unwanted hot spot.

Backfocus is low, and autofocus works well, indicating a lens that is exceptionally well corrected for color aberrations. Sharpness is outstanding, so long as accurate focus is achieved, accounting for the slight backfocus.
