Display Scaling
Apple OS X discussion. PC users might have similar options.
The
option results in a full resolution of 4096 X 2160 . It is not at all “best” for anything—not for one’s eyes (very small type and user interface elements), and not particularly useful for most purposes. It has its uses, but your author finds it too hard to work with. However, full resolution is the default as of OS X 10.10.1.Shown below is an eye friendly display scaling of 2:1 at
, yielding outstanding text and user interface quality (no sense of any pixels involved). It really is quite gorgeous to work at this size. While slightly cramped for user interface elements such as palettes and similar in Photoshop and or Lightroom, the experience is a visual treat. It‘s essentially the same working real estate as with a 1920 X 1080 display, but with more width, and this working area is useful if one positions palettes to the side.Programs like Photoshop and Lightrom draw images at the full pixel resolution, with user interface elements drawn at 2X for a natural and eye friendly size (see screen shots below).
